Condatis, a UK firm specialising in Identity and Access Management for Government, large enterprises, and healthcare, has joined the Sovrin network, championing self-sovereign identity.
What is Sovrin and why is Sovrin stewardship important?
Sovrin is a decentralized network designed to achieve self-sovereign identity (SSI) at scale. While there are many decentralized ledger technologies (DLTs), Sovrin is the only one built specifically for SSI. You can read more about self-sovereign identity.
A Sovrin Steward takes responsibility for operating one or more nodes in the Sovrin network. The steward maintains a version of the ledger, confirming allowed (permissioned) transactions which are then distributed to other Sovrin nodes. Making sure only valid transactions are placed on the ledger maintains the integrity, quality and trust required in an identity system.
Why is Condatis a Sovrin Steward?
We’re a Sovrin Steward because decentralized identity builds a safer internet. Decentralized systems promote trust in transactions because transactions are agreed by the network, not a single authority. This is important for identity because it makes it more difficult to pretend to be someone else. A fraudster cannot present stolen identity information as their own because the network will show the fraudster is not the rightful owner of that data.
